Do your values and those of your child’s school complement those you teach at home?
A value is a belief, principle, standard or trait regarded as meaningful, worthwhile, and desirable to a person, a family a school or society. At winka, we have a loveable desire to teach kids values that are integral in making them unique people in society. We teach them these values through lessons at every opportunity but most importantly by living these values ourselves as their educators.
The Winka Mentoring Program (WinkaMP) was established with a view to having forums outside of the normal classes set up by to bring out the best in all our pupils, in keeping with the Winka Academy Mission of creating a path to an exceptional future.
The first aspect of the program is internal mentoring. Each pupil has an adviser who mentors them. The pupils meet with their mentor teachers after the afternoon classes, on a designated day. One of the crucial responsibilities of the mentor teacher, besides guiding a child in making the right decisions, is working with each of them to set measurable targets and assessing their attainment at the end of every term.
The second aspect is external, where guest speakers of admirable character are invited to speak to the children.
